Cindi Lux
American Le Mans Series Driver

Cindi Lux Growing up in Yakima, WA, Cindi Lux couldn't avoid being influenced by the dinnertime chat when it turned to race cars. After all, Grandfather Carl Hahn participated in the famed Pan American Road Race in 1953. Cindi's father, Dick Hahn, gained success as a car owner and driver through the west; it was his Ferrari Testarossa, with Seattle's Jerry Grant behind the wheel that won the first two Portland Rose Cup races in 1961 and 1962. Cindi's brothers, Steve and Doug, went on to successfully compete in both drag racing and road racing. So naturally, it was only a matter of time until she, too, would catch the bug.

Many years later, following graduation from the University of Puget Sound in 1984, Cindi moved to Los Angeles and began working for Toyota Motor Sales USA. In 1987, she finally bit the bullet and enrolled in a professional driving school in Southern California. At that point, there was no looking back.

Now, more than a decade after beginning her own racing career, she has a hard time imagining what life would be like if she were not behind the wheel of a fast car - either in business or pleasure. And she's been very successful at both.

Cindi competed in the 2000 running of the Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta in the American Le Mans Series with an all-women's team in the G&W Porsche GT3R. The team finished an impressive fifth in class and 20th overall, receiving much media coverage. Cindi also drove in the 1999 Petit Le Mans race for the G&W Porsche 911.

She competed in selected Women's Global GT Series events in 2000, capturing second at Texas, third at Sebring, suffering a mechanical DNF while contesting for the lead in Charlotte and claimed the pole position, fastest lap and race win at Sears Point Raceway. Was the 1999 inaugural Women's Global GT Champion in the American Le Mans Series, capturing five podiums finishes in six races.

Cindi began racing in 1988. Throughout her career, she has amassed eight Road Racing Championships with 60 victories, 27 second-place finishes, 22 third-place finishes, and 37 pole positions. She set track records at Las Vegas, Laguna Seca, Seattle, Portland, Sears Point, Spokane, Port Orford and Roseburg Raceways.

In February 1999, more than 70 female competitors tried out for the inaugural Women's Global GT Series at Road Atlanta. Cindi set the second fastest time and ensured her spot among the field.

From 1990 to 1993, she was a factory driver for Team Mitsubishi. She is a two-time winner of the Nelson Ledges 24-Hour Endurance Race in Ohio in 1991 and 1992. She was awarded the Pat Piggot Memorial Award in 1992 for the most outstanding driver. In 1991, Cindi was presented with the Pro-Driver SCCA Driver of the year Award.

In addition to her prowess on the track, Cindi is a competitor off the track and keeps her driving skills honed while teaching others the art of car control and performance driving. She is the chief instructor for Campbell Productions Autosports, a corporate motorsports training program. She is a certified SkidCar instructor, has taught at the FAST LANE Racing School at Willow Springs Racetrack and the ProDrive Racing School at Portland International Raceway. She also teaches at SCCA and Conference Schools and was the Assistant Competition Manager of the Oregon SCCA Region.

In addition to driving schools, Cindi is a manufacturer ride-and-drive instructor who has been involved in many new product launches from top auto manufacturers, including Toyota, Mercedes, Ford, Honda, Isuzu, Jaguar, Lincoln Mercury, General Motors, Nissan, Acura and BMW. While president of Lux Performance Group, her business takes her across the United States and South America.

As one of the top female racers in the country, Cindi has been very involved in promoting the sport, including guest expert appearances on TV and radio shows. She is a member of the National Women's Car Care Council and conducts lectures on auto safety and maintenance. She was featured on the Oxygen Channel in documentary about female racecar drivers and has become their website Motorsports Chat Room guest host for 2000.

Cindi is married to Fred Lux. Her family, including her father, mother and two brothers are strong supporters of her racing efforts.
