Divina Galica
ALMS Driver
Divina Galica has won races
stretching across three continents. Numerous
top-10 wins in Europe, Asia and the United States
have earned her the utmost respect from fellow
drivers and race-related industries.
The likes of famous championship racing legends
Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi and Derek Bell
have all challenged Divina in some of the most
grueling endurance races throughout Europe.
Her competitive stature began as a member of the
elite British Women's Ski Team. Divina, chosen as
one of the best skiers in England, competed in
four Olympics (I964, '68, '72, and '92). Her
leadership abilities earned her the two-time
title of Captain to the British Women's Olympic
Ski Team.
Divina continues to hold the downhill speed
record of 200.699 kph (125 mph); making her the
fastest British woman skier in history! Divina
continues to serve as a member of the
British Speed Skiing Team.
She credits this adventurous spirit to that of
her American ancestry. It was nearly 125 years
ago when her maternal great-grandfather left a
comfortable English lifestyle for the
uncertainties awaiting the post Civil War America
and the Ulysses S. Grant presidency.
The 18-year old married an American-born
Pennsylvanian before heading out west. The couple
eventually settled in Seattle, Washington where
Divina's grandfather was born. They lived in the
United States until the turn of the century when
the entire family returned to England.
Divina's rich heritage is steeped in the cultural
scope of her experience in four winter Olympic
games. Her celebrity catapulted her centerstage.
In recognition of her superb contribution to
sports, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth of England,
inducted Divina as a Member of The British
Empire. Divina shares this elite membership with
The Beatles and tennis star John Lloyd.
