Lauren J. Fix
HSR, SVRA, ASN-FIA Driver
Lauren Fix was born into an
automotive family in the auto capital of the
world. Her father was an engineer for the Detroit
car industry and Lauren absorbed the daily 'car
talk', learned car repair skills from her dad (an
avid classic car collector), and got her driver's
license the day she turned sixteen.
Racing Career:
1981 began Lauren’s racing career in
Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), competing in
Solo I & II. Winning multiple races, a
regional title and season ending points champ for
4 years straight.
By 1989, Lauren evolved into a road racer and
started winning in her historic 1966 Trans-Am
Mustang. She competed in SVRA, HSR, VARAC, and
VSCCA. Again winning most every race in her
classification, as well as a 2nd in overall
yearend standings in the historic endurance
series.
Never content with where she is, Lauren moved
into Roush Racing Chassis #009, a 1989 IMSA /
Trans-Am Mustang. She now has the ultimate road
racing car.
For 2000, Lauren competed in SVRA/HSR sanctioned
historic races, and the Canadian G.T. Challenge
Cup sanctioned by ASN/FIA. 2001 will be a copy of
this successful year with the addition of a SCCA
Trans-Am ride pending sponsorship.
Lauren operates the DRIVING AMBITIONS Performance
Driving School at Watkins Glen since 1983.
Business Career:
In addition to her professional driving career,
Lauren is also the Vice President of Classic
Tube, Inc. She is also frequently called upon as
a consultant by TV, radio, major auto
manufacturers, and various automotive
publications. She is the automotive spokesperson
for Michelin, Uniroyal, FRAM air filters and
Prestone to name a few. She has established
herself as a driving safety expert, and is a
regular "guest expert" on television including;
The Today Show; Inside Edition; MSNBC; CBS-The
Early Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNNfn, ESPN,
ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX News, and National Public
Radio. Lauren is also the author of two
automotive books, technical articles and service
manuals.
Personal:
Lauren J. Fix enjoys the support of her husband
and two children; Shelby and Paul III (who both
go kart race). When she is not racing, she enjoys
fitness training and gourmet cooking.
