Jennifer Jo Cobb
NASCAR Racing Series Driver
Jennifer Jo Cobb began racing at Lakeside
Speedway in 1991 in the Pony Stock division at
the age of 18. She advanced to the Sportsman Late
Model ranks in 1996 and now powers her Ford
Thunderbird around the high banks of I-70
Speedway in Odessa, Missouri competing in the
NASCAR Racing Series.
Jennifer was the winningest driver in the
Sportsman Late Model division during the 2000
season, with four feature victories to her
credit. She had maintained control of the point
lead for most of the season, until a crash on
July 22 caused the team's early retirement from
the evening. After repairing the damages, the
Cobb Racing Team returned the following week and
posted a second place finish, allowing her to
close in on the point lead.
Jennifer plans on taking the Cobb Racing team
into a touring stock car division within the next
two years and to compete full-time. 'We have the
knowledge, experience and the desire to move
forward with our efforts. The entire team is
focusing on moving up. We are in the process of
putting the appropriate sponsorship packages into
effect,' she says.
This successful female racecar driver has caught
the media's attention both in and outside of the
Kansas City area. She has been featured on each
of Kansas City's local news stations several
times and has been on every major radio morning
show in K.C. Jennifer has also appeared on the
cover of the national magazine, Stock Car
Spectacular, and in their feature story about
female racecar drivers.
Jennifer is very much a 'hands-on' driver,
working on her own race car and being an active
pit crew member for her father's race team. Until
she can make the move to a full-time ride in a
NASCAR touring class, Jennifer works as a
Business Coordinator for Washburn and Associates,
Inc., a business software company in Overland
Park, Kansas. She also has more than eight years
of marketing and journalism experience.
