Prepping for the Season

We are off!! Well almost!!

If the snow ever melts they say we are having the Claremont Speedway car show on the 7th of April. Practice is on the 14th and opening night is the 21st of April, Yes April. Looking at my back yard I find it hard to believe that we will be racing in four weeks!!

I am back to work after having my six week vacation. A complete hysterectomy was done, so now all those female parts are gone and we can just focus on the testosterone. I will be sure to forget my patch on Saturdays to see if that makes me good and ornery!!

Look out boys I am now in menopause!! The surgery went well and the pain is gone so it was well worth it.

Now I am ready to race. The only problem we have is that there seems to be a little more left side weight….. Seems not doing anything for eight weeks can put a few pounds on ya. So the guys have mounted the fire bottle WAY OVER to the right of the car instead of to the rear of my seat. Victor also checked the ride height with me in it. We have always been about on target, maybe a tad low….. ride height needs to be seven inches. We are at five and a quarter. I KNOW it is not ALL my weight!!!

The car is all ready, and it looks ands sounds AWESOME!! Ward will be so proud!! The guys did an awesome job on the paint and graphics. As some told me the other day it looks better every year. I think that all of my sponsors will be very happy with the results.

Speaking of sponsors, we had the pleasure of spending this weekend with Sabil and Sons. Well, I had the pleasure. Victor got to clean the garage and dig out the trailer!! We were at the Hanover Lyons Club Car and RV show Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It was a great time. I saw a ton of people and in all honesty it seemed that a lot of people really took the time to look at me and to read the poster board I have which lists all of my fine sponsors, family and friends who support us in this endeavor.

I do believe that the sponsors that saw the car were happy and it was great seeing you all there. It was a long weekend 9-9, 9-9, 9-6 each day but it was worth it. This is the time to show the car off for the guys. They put a lot of work into making her look good and I am always proud to be able to display her for them and my sponsors and supporters.

I am also happy to report that the Sabil and Sons display won the best of show for all other vehicles at the show!! Sabil and Sons is a new sponsor this year, and I would say that we are starting off on the right foot….

This year is going to be a great year, my good luck charm Karla is back, everything is coming up 2’s. My new safety deposit box is 222. Karla’s work phone number is 2220. Ward races at Loudon on the 22nd. Hey what more signs do you need!!

The new crew changes are working great. Victor, Brock and Kelly seem to be getting along really well. We do miss Mark, but he stops by often enough to keep us going. He even stopped by on the right night to get the fan fixed for the car.

Claremont has a new flag man and he went around to as many driver’s garages as possible to talk to everyone and if he is able to do what he hopes to do, the show can’t help but get better every week. We are looking forward to having him throw the green flag on April 14th!!

The next place we will be with the car that we know of so far is at the Claremont Speedway Car Show at Fluery’s on the 7th of April. As of yesterday we are still in a go status. So hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and we will be able to be there. If so I hope to see all of you who weren’t able to make to Hanover!!
