Introduction: Teri first drove a motorized object
(go-kart) at the age of two. Her first race came several
years later at age eleven in a go-kart. She didn't care
much for the go-karts, but when she turned sixteen she took
her brother's stock car and did a few races.
In 1990, Teri started to road race and in her first year
captured the Rookie of the year award in the Canadian Firehawk
series. She competed in ASN-FIA, IMSA, SCCA Pro, Motorola
Cup, and Speedvision Cup until 1999, when her sponsor -
GM Goodwrench Service Plus, wanted her to go oval track
racing. In 2000 Teri competed in the ASA series, only having
raced on the oval track eight times. After six ASA races
she lost the ride. Not wanting to go back to road racing,
she received funding from the Weather Network and competed
in the CASCAR Super Series, coming home in 14th place and
winning the Hard Charger Award.
In 1997 Teri's season was cut short, after a serious accident
at Road Atlanta, Teri broke her neck in three places. She
wore a Halo/body cast and neck collar. With much prayer
and God's healing, she was completely restored and back
driving her PPG Pace Car at a CART event just twelve weeks
after rolling and breaking her neck. Teri was part of the
PPG pace car team for ten years.
Current Season: In 2002, Teri wanted to get as much
seat time as possible. Her father purchased an ASA Pontiac
for her and she hopes to get behind the wheel at least five
or six times. In June of this year, Teri and her brother,
Randy made NASCAR history as they became the first family
to compete in an event since 1949. Randy finished 20 and
Teri was 29th. Teri hopes to compete in at least 4 more
NASCAR Craftsman Truck races in 2002.
Racing Goals: In 2003, she would like to have a
company/product to endorse. She would like to be a spokesperson
for this company and race for the Rookie of the Year Award
either in the ASA series or the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series.
Special Thanks to: Teri would like to thank her family
for supporting her and believing in her. Also thanks to
her husband for not discouraging her after she broke her
neck and for helping her continue her dream to be a great
race car driver. She also thanks her sponsors: Pennzoil,
Marks Work Wearhouse, PPG, Fairlee Juice, Mechanix Wear,
Cyclo Lubricants.
