The CASCAR Super SeriesTeri MacDonald-Cadieux Captures 12th Place and Top Rookie FinishThe second race of the CASCAR Super Series took place Saturday, May 25 at Peterborough Speedway on what is said to be Canada’s fastest 1/3 mile race track. The Weather Network Monte Carlo started the 150-lap race from the 23rd spot and once the race results were in, driver Teri MacDonald-Cadieux captured 12th spot and was the highest finishing rookie. "Now I know why they call this race the fibreglass 150," said MacDonald-Cadieux. "I don’t think I have been hit so many times during one race as this one. I just tried to keep clean and stay out of trouble." And that she did, missing a few major collisions. Qualifying was a challenge for The Weather Network team. "We had practiced twice at this track and I was pretty comfortable as the track reminded me of Hickory, North Carolina," added MacDonald-Cadieux. "During the practice days we were able to put in a few good laps in the 14.6 to 14.8 seconds range." "On race day, the car was still really tight and just before qualifying we did one more adjustment," explained MacDonald-Cadieux. "The car became even tighter, plus I was very aggressive in qualifying and it hurt my time." Teri qualified 26th and had to run the qualifying race again. After completing this race she was set to start in the 23rd spot for the main race. It was a collision-filled race. MacDonald-Cadieux was involved in a three-car collision early on, which left no damage but put her down one lap. She tried to get her lap back several times but was unable to do so because of other traffic. But Teri remained only one lap down. "I was able to avoid most of the collisions, even though some happened right in front of me," said MacDonald-Cadieux of the race. "You have to have a good spotter and have your eyes always on the lookout for cars that are out of shape. Sometimes you can predict when a collision is about to happen just by watching the driving styles." The next race is Mosport Oval on Saturday, June 9th.
