Jean Kinser-Dana
Type of Racing: Auto Cross
Race Series: Solo 2, SCCA Pro Solo, ITS regional
Introduction:
Jean started autocrossing in 1989. She is a 6 time National
Champion, and has 2 roadracing wins in the 24 hours of Moroso
and the 12 Hours of Summit Point. She owns Evolution Performance
Driving School that goes around the country and Canada teaching
autocross. Ten years in operation, her school has been instrumental
in producing over 50% of all trophy winners and National
Champions at the SCCA Solo 2 National Championships.
Current
Season: With 3 kids, and a school that puts on over
90 schools a year, her racing time has been limited. In
her only outings this year, she has been racing with the
guys in a new SCCA class called STX on street tires. In
her 4 outings since last year, she has posted a 2nd, 4th,
and 3rd all in here BMW 325I and took a 3rd in a borrowed
Acura Integra. Her school also put on multi schools at the
C5 Corvette Bash in Bowling Green Kentucky at the National
Corvette Museum. She is working on some new schools/racing
events for the future. And just to add more to the pot,
she bought a racing go kart for her kids to start autocross
racing this year.
Racing
Goals: For the years to come,
she wants to continue in solo and some roadrace events,
possibly running some enduro racing with her husband, but
be instrumental for getting some new types of racing events
going. Adding variety, combining schools with events could
produce some of the most sought after races for an autocrosser
to attend. And with her kids starting to race in go karts,
Jean has hopes for starting some school/autocross weekends
for kids to get involved with.
Personal: Very happily married
to a successful roadracer, instructor, and autocrosser Marc
Dana, her life is filled with racing. She has 3 children
Tyler and Austin Kinser 9 and 11, and Dylan Dana who is
1 1/2. She loves anything fast, competitive and sports oriented.
Her main focuse has switched from racing every weekend to
helping people improve in racing. That's where she gets
her most enjoyment these days, and spending more time with
her racing family.
Special Thanks to: Special
thanks go to her husband, Evolution and instructors, Kumho
Tires, her dad, racing friends, and Jim McKamey for having
the belief in her to make it all work.
